Barron Electric Cooperative
For more than 80 years, Barron Electric Cooperative has been delivering energy and energy solutions to their members. Through many unpredictable weather events, Barron Electric Cooperative strives to provide reliable energy to each one of it’s 18,000 members. Recent tornadoes and derechos of the past decade have tested their abilities and each time Barron Electric Cooperative has risen to the occasion to get the power back on for it’s members. Committing to sustainable energy and community practices, currently they obtain 20% of their power from renewable sources and hope to increase that number as time goes on. Recently they took steps in a project called Power in Pollinators, that seeks to aid the Monarch Butterfly population in this area. They partnered with a local farm to plant a ten acre garden that will attract butterflies and other pollinators by planting seed that will grow to be wildflowers and milkweed, monarch’s food source. By engaging in acts such as these, Barron Electric Cooperative gives back to the environment to keep their rural communities of farmers and gardeners thriving. Member owned and managed, Barron Electric Cooperative is here to serve the best interests of the members.
